Five Ways Lawyers Can Better Leverage Social Media

Andrew Lustigman was quoted extensively in a Law360 article about effectively using social media to reach new clients. Social media should be used to become a trusted source. “It’s part of overall branding type exposure,” said Lustigman. “It’s about getting your name out there and making people aware of who you are and your expertise.” He also advises that “You have to stay very current. You can’t say that I am going to do it, then publish something, and then there be radio silence for several months.” It should be remembered that it is about building a network of people. He also warns that lawyers should be careful not to overstate their abilities, particularly with respect to “specializations,” as this is barred in some states, such as New York. “You have to be conscious of what you are saying.”
