Applying a pragmatic approach to his clients' business and life concerns, Mitchell represents a who's who of commercial real estate tenants and distinguished individuals in New York City and throughout the country. His clients run the gamut from global apparel and fashion brands to world-renowned retailers, prominent commercial real estate owners, leasing companies, and high-net-worth individuals.

Commercial clients call on Mitchell to navigate their real estate leasing transactions for shopping centers, malls, outlets, lifestyle locations, strip centers, street and flagship locations, warehouse and distribution facilities, offices, and showrooms. He also advises clients on national leasing programs and their real estate portfolios. For his residential clients, Mitchell has negotiated and closed sales and purchases of co-ops, condos, and single-family homes in Metro New York's highly competitive market.

Mitchell has extensive experience reviewing and negotiating all types of commercial real estate leases and agreements, including subleases, license agreements for temporary retail space, surrender agreements, shop-in-shop, architect and brokerage agreements, and construction contracts. Clients also regularly rely on his counsel regarding general business, corporate and employment matters, intellectual property, and entertainment law issues, as well as for their litigation needs.

Mitchell has appeared on national television as a legal expert on CNBC's "Money Talk" and has served as a business and legal consultant to ABC News' "20/20." He is the author of Buy Your Own Business: The Definitive Guide to Identifying and Purchasing a Business You Can Make a Success, was a contributing author and editor for Beat the System and was legal affairs editor for AT&T Small Business Solutions, a quarterly journal published by Business Week. He has written extensively on real estate, business, and personal-finance issues for numerous major national publications.

  • Represented several world-renowned name-brand retailers in national leasing programs for retail store locations throughout the United States.
  • Represented multiple luxury fashion industry tenants in leasing retail space in Soho and on Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue in New York City, in East Hampton, NY, on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and in Los Angeles, Malibu and San Francisco in California, in South Beach in Florida, and on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.
  • Represented a global apparel company and retailer in complex simultaneous transactions, for over 190,000 square feet of office/showroom headquarters space in midtown Manhattan and back-office space in New Jersey. The New Jersey transaction included significant tax incentives.
  • Represented a clothing conglomerate in leasing 225,000 square feet of office space in midtown Manhattan.
  • Represented a tenant in leasing corporate headquarters of approximately 175,000 square feet of office space in midtown Manhattan.
  • Represented sellers and purchasers of high-end residential real estate in New York City, Westchester and Long Island.
  • Represented a television production company in leasing a production studio and office facility in connection with filming a television sitcom at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.
