Olshan Adds Partner Barry Greenbaum to Its Intellectual Property and Brand Management & Protection Practices

Greenbaum has joined the firm as a partner in the Intellectual Property Law and Brand Management & Protection Practices. Greenbaum brings close to two decades of experience advising international technology companies and emerging growth clients on patent prosecution, IP transactions, trademarks and design, as well as privacy matters. His deep familiarity with emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous systems and vehicles, IoT ecosystems, robotics, advanced sensors, and data-driven infrastructure—positions him to counsel clients navigating rapidly evolving IP landscapes.

Greenbaum is well-versed in building and managing global patent portfolios and counseling clients on trademark matters, copyright, and brand protection, as well as drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including software licensing, SaaS, master services, consulting, and assignment agreements for technology companies. He advises clients on protecting and commercializing innovations in fast-moving sectors where intellectual property, data rights, and regulatory considerations intersect. His experience also includes trademark and patent portfolio analysis and due diligence reviews in connection with strategic transactions. In addition, he counsels clients on AI technology agreements and licensing matters. Greenbaum brings an entrepreneurial perspective as well, having co-founded a cloud-based platform to automate patent drawing review and analysis, giving him firsthand insight into how technology companies build, scale, and protect their innovations.

Before joining Olshan, Greenbaum served as Senior Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP in New York. He managed worldwide IP prosecution strategies, coordinating filings across multiple jurisdictions. Greenbaum also advised on IP due diligence and evaluated IP assets for mergers and acquisitions and technology transactions, reviewed privacy and data considerations in connection with commercial agreements, and provided litigation support for IP disputes through infringement and invalidity analyses, discovery responses, and technical summaries. He is known for his in-depth knowledge of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, autonomous vehicles and robotics, fintech and blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), and medical devices and sensors, among other areas. His work also included supporting post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
