Andrew Freedman Quoted in WSJ on the Trends of the 2023 Proxy Season

Olshan partner and Chair of the firm's Shareholder Activism Practice Group Andrew Freedman was quoted in a Wall Street Journal article (subscription required) discussing activist investor activity so far in the 2023 proxy season. Andy explained that the introduction of the universal proxy card has helped smooth the way for more settlements, given how the mix-and-match voting feature has increased the odds of an activist winning a seat or two in a proxy fight. “Companies that may have felt very comfortable going into contests and taking them the distance in 2020, 2021 and last year are a lot more wary of testing the waters today,” he said.
