Andrew Freedman Quoted in The Deal on the Anticipated Effects of Coronavirus on Proxy Fights in 2020

Firm News

Co-Head of Olshan’s Shareholder Activism Practice Andrew Freedman was quoted in The Deal (subscription required) on the possible effects that the coronavirus will have on the 2020 proxy season. Andrew pushed back against the notion that the epidemic will chill upcoming proxy contests, saying, “"We've seen zero effects of the coronavirus on activist activity this proxy season,” He continued, “Our clients are in no way retreating to the sidelines. This is nothing more than an attention-grabbing ploy by corporate defense advisers. They're conveniently using this serious outbreak to roll out a decades-old, tired and stale argument that activist investors are short-term-minded."
