Olshan Of Counsel Steven Gursky was featured in a Brooklyn College News article on his volunteer work, including at a food pantry, providing pro-bono legal services, as a board member for the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, and mentoring pre-law students at his alma mater, Brooklyn College. “I find it useful to [students] and incredibly rewarding to me,” Steve said of the mentoring process. The article traces Steve’s path to becoming a successful lawyer. Growing up in Brooklyn and certain that he wanted to pursue a career in law, Steve was without mentors to guide him in this direction, and he is determined to lend his expertise to law and pre-law students in need of mentorship. “The idea of grappling around in the dark and finding their way, like I did, is something I would rather have students not have to do,” he said. Invariably characterizing Steve as approachable, his mentees are grateful to draw from his significant legal experience, including trademark and real estate work for companies like Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Nike, and Adidas. Steve considers his work on the board of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation as one of the highlights of his life and mentoring students as a more personal reflection of his sense of giving: “I’m helping students one at a time. And hopefully they end up paying it forward.”
