Andrew Freedman Quoted in 13D Monitor’s June 2026 Activist Report with a Message to Public Company Boards of Directors
Olshan Co-Managing Partner and Chair of the firm’s Shareholder Activism Practice Andrew Freedman was quoted in 13D Monitor’s June 2026 Activist Report in response to the question “What is one message boards and management teams need to hear about shareholder activism right now.” “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again,” Andy responded, “shareholder activism isn’t the disease – it’s the symptom. The irony is that many of the fights I see, including some recent ones, could have been avoided with earlier shareholder engagement and a willingness to honestly self-assess and embrace real change before someone with a 13D comes along and does it for you. Reactionary changes to an activist showing up aren’t genuine and just don’t cut it anymore.” He concludes, “Also, too many boards are still treating shareholder activism like a communications problem when it’s really a performance, credibility, or trust problem. Hiring three PR firms, two investment banks and defense counsel isn’t a substitute for asking, ‘Does this activist investor actually have a point?’”
