TheStreet Quotes Andrew Freedman on Shareholder Activism at GE

Firm News

Olshan Corporate Partner and Co-Head of the Activist & Equity Investment Group Andrew Freedman was quoted by TheStreet in an article discussing Trian Fund Management LP's investment in GE.  In 2015, Trian Fund accumulated approximately 1% of GE seeking to improve GE’s stock price. The article discusses the likelihood of Nelson Peltz of Trian Fund renewing a public campaign or to push for further change given GE’s subpar stock performance. Trian’s Chief Investment Officer, Ed Garden, was appointed to the board and there have been separate reports that GE is considering a break-up.  Freedman notes that “The news that GE is considering a break-up and reviewing its strategy makes it less likely that Peltz if going to agitate unless he is firmly against that course of action…”
