Activist Client Starboard Makes Headlines on Announcement of Upcoming Proxy Contest for Control of Darden Restaurants Board

The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, Fox Business, Reuters, Chicago Tribune, BloombergBusinessweek and numerous other media outlets reported on Olshan client Starboard Value’s upcoming proxy contest for full control of Darden Restaurants’ Board of Directors. Starboard, one of Darden’s largest shareholders, has nominated a slate of twelve highly qualified director candidates for election at Darden’s 2014 Annual Meeting. The nominations come on the heels of Darden’s announcement that it has agreed to sell Red Lobster despite the Special Meeting called by shareholders to discuss their serious concerns with such a sale. Steve Wolosky, Andrew M. Freedman and Meagan Reda represent Starboard in connection with its activist campaign at Darden.
