Olshan Represents Client in Restructuring and Refinancing of New D.C. School

Bisnow and other media reported on Olshan’s representation of 601 West Companies in its closing on a restructuring and refinancing of the office complex located at 4000 Connecticut Avenue NW in Washington DC, formerly known as the Intelsat Building.  The closing involved raising $55 million in equity, and obtaining a construction loan of $170 million and mezzanine loan of $55 million.  The building is net leased to the Whittle School and will be turned into the U.S. site of the Whittle School (another facility will be opening in China) which will open in September of 2019.  The founder of the Whittle School is also the founder of the Avenues School located in New York. Olshan’s team representing 601 West Companies in the structuring of the deal, including LLC agreements was led by Tax partner Warren Gleicher, and assisted by Of Counsel Martin Cooper, Counsel Shirlee Gordon and Kenneth Mantel.
