Freedman Quoted in Law360 Regarding Expert Predictions for Shareholder Activism in 2014

Firm News

Olshan Partner Andrew Freedman was quoted extensively as an expert in a Law360 article (subscription required) about predictions for the 2014 proxy season and the continuing rise of shareholder activism. Freedman was quoted as saying that “Investors and media have warmed up to activist investing. It’s become a generally accepted practice.” The article goes on to mention upcoming trends, which Freedman predicts will include more first time activist investors and larger market cap companies being targeted. Freedman noted that “Those that for a while sat largely on the sidelines as passive investors, who now see activist investors becoming more widely accepted, they're more willing to jump into the fray." Regarding larger activist targets, Freedman said that “More and more investors, including huge state pension vehicles, have been investing in an array of activist vehicles, thereby giving these growing activist funds the wherewithal to focus their sights on these large market cap companies.”
