Freedman Quoted in Bloomberg BNA on Activist Settlements

Firm News

Andrew Freedman, Co-Head of the Shareholder Activism Practice, was quoted recently in a Bloomberg BNA article discussing settlements between public companies and activist investors. Freedman offered insight into the quick settlement talks stating that, activist investors “have most of the leverage in settlement discussions due to the set of reasons that attracted the activist investor to the company in the first place. Freedman stated, that activists in settlement talks are “going to push for the most changes possible in terms of board representation and otherwise.  It's their one bite at the apple, so to speak, for such changes until at least the following year's annual meeting.” In the end, Freedman stated, that activists look to, “improve struggling companies and unlock shareholder value that has been trapped.”
