Ezor Quoted in Law360 on Data Use Policies

Firm News

Olshan Of Counsel Jonathan Ezor was quoted in a Law360 article (subscription required) about new Google and Facebook policies that enable them to use adult and teen data for advertising purposes. This will inevitably open up legal and regulatory battles that may establish more permissive boundaries for data use. Ezor points out that “while there are specific restrictions for certain categories of data, such as health and finance, there really isn't any federal requirement to obtain consent for using general consumer data in different ways. There's a requirement to treat consumers fairly and not deceive them, but there's no general mandate to get consent."
