Litigation associate Joseph Calder guides clients through complex commercial disputes and government investigations in state and federal courts.
Joe is recognized for his strategic, results-driven approach and his focus on client objectives. He regularly performs all aspects of litigation, including drafting dispositive motions, appellate briefs, legal memoranda, complaints and discovery requests. He collaborates with in‑house counsel across industries to craft clear, actionable litigation strategies. Clients value his ability to deliver practical solutions with business objectives. He has experience litigating in both lower and appellate courts.
In the white collar and investigations arena, Joe has coordinated with federal regulators and auditors and advised clients on navigating corporate monitorships and other compliance reviews. He is also skilled in negotiating the scope of government subpoenas, search terms and confidentiality agreements while supervising associate teams to marshal effective, timely responses.
Before joining Olshan, Joe was a litigation associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Helene N. White of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Honorable Carol Bagley Amon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. At the University of Virginia School of Law, he served as an extern to the Solicitor General of Virginia, Toby Heytens.
