New Director of NAD Announced: Laura Brett

The Advertising Self-Regulatory Council and the Council of Better Business Bureaus have announced the appointment of Laura Brett as the new Director of the National Advertising Division (NAD). NAD is the self-regulatory body that aims to oversee the truth and accuracy of advertising claims made nationally. This appointment follows the retirement of long-time NAD Director, Andrea Levine.

Initially joining NAD in 2012, Ms. Brett has held the position of NAD’s Assistant Director since 2015. During her time at NAD, Ms. Brett has authored several important NAD decisions, and among other areas, has led the review of advertising disclosures in digital formats.

Before commencing her position at NAD, Ms. Brett worked in private practice, including at both Willkie Farr & Gallagher, and as a solo practitioner. In addition, Ms. Brett has served as an elected official on her local City Council and on the board of several non-profit organizations. Ms. Brett graduated with a B.A. from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, and earned her law degree from Fordham University School of Law.
