Legal landscape for cybersecurity risk is changing as federal government and SEC take action

Olshan Partner Andrew Lustigman and Associate Mason Barney authored an article published by Inside Counsel entitled, “Legal landscape for cybersecurity risk is changing as federal government and SEC take action." The article focuses on two recent actions that could have significant consequences for how companies approach cybersecurity. First, the U.S. House of Representatives passed two bills to encourage companies to share cybersecurity information with the government and other private entities. Second, the SEC has not taken any formal action yet, but it has indicated that it may urge companies to disclose their cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
