Recruiting
Olshan Grundman Frome Rosenzweig & Wolosky LLP, with about 65 attorneys, is a dynamic mid-size law firm that offers a unique environment for attorneys interested in developing their practice. We offer challenging work in diverse practice areas, an opportunity to work with and learn from the finest legal talent and challenging responsibilities at an early stage of your career. In contrast to larger New York firms, our size and firm culture allow for an informal atmosphere where all attorneys are on a first name basis. We focus on developing relationships and are dedicated to personal service tailored to the specific requirements and concerns of each client, from large corporations to small businesses and individuals. This approach provides associates with hands-on experience in addressing all day-to-day legal issues of a company, as well as a strong foundation for building substantive, long-term client relationships.
Olshan provides an equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants without regard to race, religion, national origin, sex, age, sexual orientation, disability, status as a Vietnam era or special disabled veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state and local law.

B. Summer Program
Olshan's Summer Associate Program is designed for second-year law students and serves as the primary vehicle for hiring first-year associates. Our program provides varied assignments in order to give you greater exposure to as many transactions/cases and attorneys as possible. Our summer classes are selectively small so that each Summer Associate gets substantial exposure to Partners and Associates and has an idea what life is like as first year attorney. You are able to demonstrate the necessary skills to be a successful attorney, join our firm upon graduation, and be a part of our future.
Olshan makes sure that all summer associates have the opportunity to watch attorneys in action — in meetings, depositions, court appearances, client meetings, conference calls, trips to the printer, etc. To help make your summer with the firm a productive learning experience we also assign two associates to act as Advisors. Your Advisors will be available to answer questions or to address any concerns that may arise during the summer.
We also include social events and other sorts of professional and cultural activities to provide you opportunities to get to know our people better in informal atmospheres.
How do I become a part of Olshan's future? During the recruiting season, we visit the following schools:
- Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law
- Cornell Law School New York Job Fair
- Columbia University School of Law
- Fordham University School of Law
- Rutgers School of Law — Newark
- New York University School of Law
- Vanderbilt University Law School
- Washington University in St. Louis — NY Job Fair
While we expect to visit these law schools, our full-time attorneys come from many different law schools and we encourage applicants from schools that we may not visit. If your school is not listed, please send your resume, cover letter and a copy of your law school transcript to Teresa Lambe at tlambe@olshanlaw.com. We will contact you if it seems appropriate to schedule an interview.

C. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Summer Program
How many summer associates do you expect to hire?
We hired five summer associates in 2006. We are interested in hiring four to five associates for the summer of 2007 from the Class of 2008.
What is an associate advisor's responsibility?
The Advisors will offer guidance and assist with introducing you to the firm, both on a professional and a social basis. Your Advisors will maintain frequent contact with you and help with any issues that may develop during the summer. You should feel free to contact your Advisors if you are experiencing a problem or need assistance in any way. Your Advisors will be a valuable resource from whom you can learn about life at the firm.
From what department will I receive assignments?
You will receive both transactional and litigation assignments during the course of the summer. In addition, while a number of your assignments may be short, we expect to add you to a team handling a major transaction or litigation matter that you will be able to follow throughout your summer.
How do I know about the quality of my work product?
The assigning attorney is asked to orally discuss your work product with you after each assignment and is also asked to complete an evaluation form. Based on these evaluations summer associates will receive a formal evaluation half way through and at the end of the summer from two of the partners in charge of the summer program. The primary focus of this meeting will be to inform you of your performance with regard to the projects you have completed to date and to let you know how and where you should focus your energies for the remainder of the summer. Any feedback you can provide as to the quality of your summer experience will add to our review process.
Attorney Contact
Each assigning attorney will meet with you to discuss and explain each assignment. Through this direct contact we hope to assure that you fully understand the requirements of the assignment. For everyone's benefit, we have asked our attorneys to be very clear with you about deadlines and the maximum number of hours he or she expects the assignment will require, keeping in mind that you may need more time to complete a project than an experienced associate. We encourage you to ask lots of questions and to go back to the assigning attorney, if necessary.
Social Events
The Firm will plan various social events during the summer. Your Advisors along with other attorneys will also take you to lunch from time to time and introduce you to people at the Firm.
Offers
Offers are made shortly before the end of the summer program by the Recruiting Committee. Our Summer Associates are evaluated independently, using the same criteria applied to all our associates.
Compensation
Salaries and benefits for associates and summer associates are fully competitive with other leading New York firms. All summer associates will be paid at a rate of $2,885/week, which is based on an annual compensation of $150,000.
